Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to store pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage places tidy. The reach truck is available in quite a few models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This model has telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This particular version is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Usually more than one kind of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could maximize available storage space while increasing production.
