The Carriage
The carriage is like a traditional forklift since the lifting attachment can be tilted forwards and backwards from its horizontal. The tilt which is possible on this equipment exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There is a large range of lifting attachments available, and this ability to position makes them as effective as possible.
Nearly all telehandlers could tilt forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! Furthermore, numerous models provide rotating carriages too. This enables the operator to adjust the lifting attachment radially. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted backwards and forwards, as well as side to side.
Load Capacity
Knowing a telehandler's load capacity is a much different exercise than it is on a vertical mast model. The capacity of the unit is totally dependent on such things as: boom angle and extension, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires, and the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable. What's more, which lifting attachment plays a very important role, as does the wind, the grade the machine is operating on et cetera. All of these specifics could be changing on a constant basis and this gives the operator a lot more information to think about.
Normally, telehandlers have several load charts available in order for the operator to reference so they could determine the load capacity of a certain lift. Depending upon the boom's configuration and the unit in particular, the load capacity can differ by thousands of pounds all together.
